Frequently asked questions
- How is a weighted average different from a regular average?
- A regular average treats every value the same; a weighted average lets some values count more than others. For example, a final grade of 90 worth 60% of your mark matters more than a quiz worth 10%.
- Do the weights need to add up to 100 or 1?
- No. Enter weights in whatever units make sense. Percentages, points, hours, shares, and the tool normalizes them for you. So 3, 5, and 2 works just as well as 30%, 50%, and 20%.
- Can I use this for calculating my grade point average or course grade?
- Yes. Enter each grade as a value and its credit hours or percentage weight, and the tool computes the overall weighted result instantly.
