Frequently asked questions
- Will converting to JPG or WebP lose quality?
- PNG to JPG/WebP is lossy, so there's some compression, but you control the quality level. Higher settings look nearly identical to the original at a larger file size. PNG itself is always lossless.
- What happens to transparency if I convert a PNG to JPG?
- JPG doesn't support transparency, so any transparent areas get filled with a solid background (usually white). If you need to keep transparency, convert to WebP instead. It supports it like PNG does.
