Frequently asked questions
- How does it decide the teams. Random, or does it try to balance them?
- By default it shuffles randomly. If you add a skill rating or seed number next to each name, it switches to a snake-draft assignment so total skill is spread evenly across teams instead of pure luck.
- Can I set team sizes that aren't equal, like 4 teams of different sizes?
- Yes. Set the number of teams and it splits as evenly as possible; if your name count doesn't divide evenly, the extra people are distributed one at a time starting from team 1 rather than all dumped on the last team.
- I need to re-run this for the same group next week without the same pairings. Is that possible?
- Reshuffle as many times as you want; each click uses a fresh random seed, or you can enter your own seed number if you want a reproducible split you can recreate later.
- Does this store the names I enter anywhere?
- No. The list is split entirely in your browser tab and never leaves your device, so it's fine to paste in a class roster or coworker names.
