Frequently asked questions

How is a credit-weighted GPA different from a simple average?
Instead of averaging your grade points equally, each grade is multiplied by the credit hours for that course, then the total is divided by total credits, so a 4-credit A counts more than a 1-credit A.
What grading scale does the calculator use?
It defaults to the standard 4.0 scale (A=4.0, A-=3.7, B+=3.3, etc.), and you can adjust individual grade point values if your school uses a different scale (like plus/minus variations or a 4.33 scale).
Can I calculate a cumulative GPA across multiple semesters?
Yes. Enter all your courses with their credits and grades in one list, or add a starting GPA and credit total from prior terms, and it will fold those into the overall weighted average.
Does anything I type get sent anywhere?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser, so your courses, grades, and credit hours never leave your device.
