Number Formatter

Format numbers with thousands grouping and custom decimal places or separators. Free and private, right in your browser.

Paste in a plain number (or a list of them) and get it back with thousands separators inserted, 1234567 becomes 1,234,567, so figures are easier to read in reports, invoices, or slides. Handy for cleaning up numbers copied out of a database export or CSV that came without any formatting.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your number (or a list, one per line)
  2. Choose your separator and decimal style (e.g. comma-thousands/period-decimal or period-thousands/comma-decimal)
  3. Copy the formatted result

Frequently asked questions

Can I format a whole column of numbers at once?
Yes, paste multiple numbers separated by new lines and each one gets formatted on its own line, keeping the order intact so you can paste the results straight back into a spreadsheet.
Does it handle European-style numbers, like 1.234,56?
Yes, switch the separator style to period-for-thousands and comma-for-decimal and the tool reformats correctly instead of misreading the period as a decimal point.
What happens to negative numbers or decimals?
Negative signs and decimal portions are preserved exactly; only the integer part gets separators inserted, so -1234567.89 becomes -1,234,567.89.
